They Should Never Touch the Ground by Deanna Templeton is a photo zine focussing on Old Glory and the many ways in which Americanschoose to appropriate it. Templeton's photographs capture the Stars and Stripes brandished across t-shirts, bandanas, bikinis, and even platform heels, often in a misguided display of patriotism. The resulting serieshighlights the juxtaposition of the flagasa cherished symbol ofThe Land of the Free, and as something that is trivialised and debased by those attempting to honour it.
